S7 Academy 8-2 Totally Wicked
On Friday 25th May, Totally Wicked played in the highly anticipated Orphanage Cup Final at Ewood Park “The Home Of Blackburn Rovers”
Both teams lined up in sweltering conditions and despite the searing heat, the first half proved to be a memorable one for the competing teams.
Totally Wicked lined up with a 4-5-1 Formation
Goalkeeper - Shaun Townsend
Defence – Lee Sedgwick, Giovanni Tudda, Stuart Mercer and Mick Watson
Midfield - Liam McLoughlin, Mick Ashton, Graeme Anderson, Shaun Watson, Ryan Magee,
Striker – Billy McMullen
With both teams out on the pitch you could see that there were early nerves from both teams, but the Totally Wicked Boys soon quashed those early nerves with a superb solo goal from Mick Ashton, which sent the large crowd into raptures!
The joyous scenes were soon outlived when against the run of play; S7 Academy equalised after a Wicked deflection, and put the ball past the flailing keeper to the disbelief of the noisy crowd.
Moments later S7 Academy was given a dubious penalty after Giovanni Tudda was harshly ruled to have taken the Striker down. The Striker picked himself up before coolly dispatching the penalty to make it 2-1.
This seemed to get The Totally Wicked boys down and woke S7 Academy up and they continued to put pressure on the Totally Wicked Goal.
But again, against the run of play Totally Wicked managed to find an equaliser from a Ryan Magee corner, which some say flew straight in but Liam McLoughlin tried to claim by saying he got a nick on it to put it past the Goalkeeper! This raised Totally Wicked’s spirits and brought the crowd back to life in what was turning out to be a great half at this incredible venue.
However, just before half time, a long ball from the back found the S7 Academy Striker clean through and one on one with the Goalkeeper. The Striker made no mistake and made the score 3-2 to S7 Academy at the Half Time Break.
