How do vape kits work?
While there is a lot to choose from when it comes to vape kits, they all work in fundamentally the same way. They are an electronic device that allows you to vaporise e-liquid into an inhaleable form. This way you can get the nicotine that your body is craving.
They are made up of the same basic components. A battery, a tank, and atomizer head (or coil) and e-liquid. As you press your battery button to activate it, this delivers power through a coil of wire that sits in your atomizer head. This power heats up the coil, which is surrounded by wicking material. As you draw on your e-cig, you pull e-liquid onto the wicking material which is then vaporised and you inhale it.
That is it, they all work in that way.
Anything past this is all about how the e-cig looks, slight changes to how you fill them with vape juice and some of them have the ability to turn the power up and down.

One of the key elements to limit cravings when stopping smoking is by choosing the correct nicotine strength. By getting this step right, you are going to deliver the right amount of nicotine each time you vape, halting your cravings.
You need to choose an e-liquid with a nicotine strength that stops you from smoking. Again there may be an element of trial and error here, but there are general guides that you can use to choose your starting strength.

Remember e-cigarettes not only cover your nicotine cravings. It also covers all of the other smoking triggers, helping to cover your mental addiction as well as the physical one. These include triggers such as; hand to mouth action, as well as inhaling and exhaling.

What are the different types of e-cig?
There are two main types of e-cig. An open tank system and a pod e-cig. As mentioned above, they both do the same fundamental job. They are a way for you to get the nicotine that your body is craving.
An open tank system is exactly as it sounds. They tend to come in different shapes and sizes and they have a vape tank that can refilled with e-liquid and can have their atomizer head changed.
Pod e-cigs tend to all look similar, a pen style shape much closer to the look of a cigarette. A lot of them are 'closed', which means the pods are pre-filled with e-liquid and cannot be refilled. You also can't change the atomizer head in many.
If you want to try vaping for the first time but don't know where to start, a disposable vape is a great first e-cig. There is no set up, no maintenance, not even a button to press. Check them out in our disposable vape setion.
How to choose the best e-cigarette to quit smoking?
What you look for in a vape kit, depends on what is important in your vaping experience.
If you are a person who is out and about a lot, works outside or is never near a plug, then battery life should be up there on your list of considerations. The last thing you need when you are new to vaping and trying to kick the cigarettes, is to be out and about and your e-cig battery runs out of power. So you will want to consider a vape starter kit with a larger battery.
Ease of use is something that you should look at. All vape kits are relatively easy once you are used to them, but just think how easy smoking is. You take a cigarette and light it, e-cigs do require upkeep and maintenance. You want to choose something that has the least impact on your day to day routine. If you are the type of person who can't be doing with faff and wants the minimum upkeep, you might want to lean towards a vape pod. If you quite like tech and gadgets, you might want to move towards a vape kit with settings that you can adjust.
Size and shape is also something to think about. The bigger the battery life, the larger and heavier the e-cig is. Will you be keeping your vape in a pocket? Do you need to travel with it often? Is there a reason that your e-cig needs to be small and discreet? These are all things to consider. Vape starter kits do tend to be smaller than some of the larger vape mods out there, but take into account the size and shape of your vape as you are getting used to e-cigs being part of your regular day.
