E-cigarettes are finally starting to become noticed as a key tool to aid smoking cessation. E-cigarettes featured in this year’s annual Stoptober campaign, MPs have backed vaping in parliamentary debates and many doctors and medical practitioners now seem to embracing e-cigs as a cessation tool.
The Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) posted the video below on its Youtube Channel. It features personal experience of how e-cigarettes have helped to change a smoker’s life, guidance from doctors on how e-cigarettes can aid smoking cessation as well as how the key to smoking cessation is ‘tailoring the tools available to your personal needs’.
Hopefully, positive opinions from medical professionals alongside public backing from political figures will allow for a more informed perception of e-cigarettes from smokers who may have been blinded by the presence of fake news.
In 2016, anti-smoking public health expert, Dr Konstantinos Farsalinos said “Bad quality studies accompanied by impressive press statements are becoming increasingly frequent … I think we will see some interesting developments in this aspect soon”.
While in the UK we have seen some improvement in this area, the frequency is still alarming and is continuing to discourage smokers from making the switch. This is why expert, unbiased research and advice on e-cigarettes is so important to improve the overall public perception of vaping and allow smokers to make an informed decision on vaping.
