Totally Wicked’s ethos is ‘empowering smokers to transform their lives,’ so National No Smoking Day is a date close to our hearts. It is celebrated on the second Wednesday in March each year and urges smokers to ditch their cigarettes.
The first No Smoking Day was on Ash Wednesday in 1984, with the aim of raising awareness of the dangers of smoking and providing resources to help people quit. This year’s campaign will carry the title ‘Today is the Day’ and aims to help people ditch the cigarettes for good. The past few years have seen e-cigarettes endorsed and advocated on National No Smoking Day and 2020 should be no different.
If you or somebody you know is looking to quit smoking, then what better time to take the plunge than National No Smoking Day? Keep up to date with the latest updates from the likes of Public Health England (PHE), Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) and Cancer Research UK (CRUK). These anti-smoking campaign groups are advocates of e-cigarettes so we can expect them to show support for vaping on National No Smoking Day.
Deborah Arnott, Chief Executive of Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) recently said:
There are over 6 million smokers in England and smoking is still the leading cause of premature death and disease particularly among the most disadvantaged in our society. Helping more smokers quit is vital if we’re to achieve the government’s vision of a smokefree society by 2030, and vaping has a role to play. Vaping has helped many thousands of smokers quit to date, but many thousands more could benefit if they were not put off by the persistent, worsening and inaccurate beliefs the public hold about vaping.
