Starting on Monday, 14th October, we embarked on a nationwide campaign to challenge every smoker we can reach to make the switch from smoking to vaping, in a series of initiatives all pulled together under the name of the ‘Totally Wicked Challenge’.
Focused around the byte, in-store and online initiatives have already seen over a thousand smokers make the life-changing switch from cigarettes to e-cigarettes. From beer mats, to taste tests, to a bit of help from friends and family, the Totally Wicked Challenge has already been a roaring success.
Totally Wicked customers have been helping transform smokers’ lives
There’s no better person to encourage you to make a positive life change than a loved one. While some smokers may be sceptical of vaping because of what they hear in the media, they can’t argue with real life success from stories from people close to them.
We therefore reached out to our valued in-store customers and asked for their help. A simple A7 card was all Totally Wicked vapers needed to help change the life of a friend, family member or co-worker.
As brilliant as words and anecdotes from vapers are, we wanted our customers to be able to give those hardened smokers that extra push to help them make the life-changing switch away from cigarettes. This A7 card therefore entitled the referred ‘friend’ to a free byte e-cigarette when they came in-store… No catch.
So, our Totally Wicked community was playing its part but what about the wider community…
Pub landlords play their part in the Totally Wicked Challenge
Moving into November, it was time to reach the wider smoking community. At Totally Wicked we thought; what better way to help smokers ditch the habit than down the boozer when they’re about to head outside into the cold to light up?
As much as we would have liked to go into each and every pub in the UK to talk to smokers, that would be a bit of a stretch. So, we had an obscene amount of beer mats produced to be distributed to 500 pub locations, the majority of which are in very close proximity to a Totally Wicked store. These aren’t just any beer mats… They entitle smokers to a free byte e-cig!
Since November 4th, hundreds upon hundreds of beer mats have been redeemed by smokers. One particularly poignant and incredible success story is at Totally Wicked Burnley. In just one week, the team in Burnley has received more than 150 redemptions of byte kits, all from smokers looking to make the switch to vaping.
Why the Totally Wicked byte?
You may have noticed a theme with these two campaigns; they both centre around the byte e-cigarette. The reason for this is simple. The byte is aimed specifically at smokers to help them transition over to e-cigarettes seamlessly. As part of the Totally Wicked Challenge we wanted to get this message through. This is where “The Boardroom” came in.
“The Boardroom” is a tongue in cheek look behind the scenes at Totally Wicked HQ. Whilst the short video may not be entirely serious, the underlying message certainly is. That message is that ‘The byte isn’t here for the glitz and the glam of the vaping world, it’s here to help smokers transform their lives’.
That may all be well and good but aside from the intention behind it, what sets the byte apart from other similar e-cigs on the market? There are various other pre-filled pod systems similar to the byte available but we believe the byte to be the most effective due to various pieces of innovative technology.
We would say that though wouldn’t we? So, we took to the streets to see what the public thought of the byte compared to the leading competitor. First we trialled the Taste Test in Preston where we asked 14 people for their honest opinions on the two e-cigarettes. Here’s how it panned out…
So, 78% of Prestonians preferred the byte but what did the smokers of vapers of Manchester think?
The results were conclusive, showing that 4 out of 5 people preferred the byte over the market leader. That’s just two Northern cities though, so keep an eye out for more taste tests!
The initiatives were supported by a number of campaigns all revolving around the byte to help showcase exactly what Totally Wicked is all about; empowering smokers to transform their lives.
What’s up next?
The Totally Wicked Challenge is showing no sign of letting up and as we approach 2020 we hope to transform thousands more lives. After all that’s what Christmas is all about, right?
