Totally Wicked partners, Team BRIT is still in its early years but the inspiring racing team is now earning some well-deserved coverage as they have featured on both BBC’s Invictus Games and ITV News over the last few weeks.
The team is made up of ex or serving military troops and the drivers have all sustained serious injuries which have left them disabled. Team BRIT compete on a level playing field with able-bodied drivers, and “the project will show military veterans, disabled people and the world, that they can achieve goals they never thought they were capable of achieving.”
A couple of weeks ago, Team BRIT featured on BBC’s coverage of The Invictus Games during as the team showcased the hard work that goes in to allowing these drivers to achieve their dreams.
This Invictus games coverage saw Team BRIT at Snetterton race course for a meeting in the FunCup. The FunCup 2017 season came to its finale on Saturday 14th October at Oulton Park and a number of Totally Wicked employees were there to show our support.
The racing Team were in great spirits and thrilled to get their hands on some new Totally Wicked Kits in the run up to the race. A gruelling 4 hours of racing saw both cars finish, and finish well with the cars coming in 17th and 24th place, respectively.
This led to further exposure for Team BRIT as they featured on ITV news. Dave Player, Team BRIT founder explained what a unique opportunity motorsport is for people with disabilities and we also hear about Tony Williams’ story. Tony was shot 6 times while serving in Afghanistan and is now racing on a level playing field with able-bodied competitors thanks to team BRIT.
With the 2017 FunCup season now complete, Team BRIT look ahead to The Birkett Relay at Silverstone, the largest Motor Race in the UK with over 70 teams to take part on the 28th October.
We hope you will join us in supporting Team BRIT and help them achieve their goal of reaching the world famous Le Mans Endurance race, becoming the first ever all-disabled team to do so.
