The E-cigarette Summit 2019 took place at The Royal Society,\nLondon on November 14th<\/sup>. Now in its seventh year, the E-cigarette\nSummit allows specialists in the field to give their expert opinions and lay\ndown the facts about vaping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The E-cigarette Summit 2019 could not have come at a better\ntime for the UK vaping industry. Media channels have been riddled with\nmisleading and irresponsible vaping headlines in recent times. The E-cigarette\nSummit was a great place for reliable and authoritative figures to set the\nstory straight. One of these authoritative figures was Liam Humberstone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liam Humberstone represented both Totally Wicked<\/a> and the IBVTA<\/a> as he discussed regulation and products standards. Liam is Totally Wicked\u2019s Technical Director and an IBVTA Steering Committee member, with a wealth of experience in the vaping sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was incredibly important to see Liam speaking at the\nSummit, relaying the facts, figures and experiences he has earned through\nworking directly for a leading vaping company. He is only the fourth person directly\nemployed in the UK vaping retail sector to speak at the E-cigarette Summit; the\nfirst of whom was Fraser Cropper, Totally Wicked Chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liam certainly had a lot to talk about as he presented on\nthe current controversies for the vape industry. The Totally Wicked Technical Director\nalso formed part of the Q&A panel alongside other key vaping and health advocates\nincluding Professor Linda Bauld and Professor Jean Fran\u00e7ois Etter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Speakers at the Summit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 2019 E-cigarette Summit had a star-studded line-up\nconsisiting of some of the most influential figures in the industry. Leading researchers\nand commentators from here in the UK and from as far afield as the United States\nand even Singapore were there to present on specific topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor John Britton of Nottingham University has been a\nkey advocate for vaping in the UK . The Director of UKCTAS brought up the\nparticularly important point of irresponsible media coverage in a stand-out\npresentation from this year\u2019s Summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Peter Hajek also delivered a powerful speech at\nthe Summit, just days after he spoke to The Sun in a particularly effective\narticle regarding the recent vaping hysteria. His findings were pretty\nconclusive that vaping does not lure young people into smoking!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Familiar faces including Deborah Arnott, Chief Executive of\nAction on Smoking and Health (ASH) and Professor Robert West, Director of\nTobacco Studies at UCL also stood up to have their say. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Linda Bauld\u2019s presentation on tobacco harm\nreduction policy included commentary on the influence of the tobacco industry on\nUK health stakeholders, and was particularly refreshing. Bauld explained that\nthe UK ranked top for resisting tobacco influence, despite accusations for the\ncontrary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
