In October 2015 he joined the BSI mirror committee to the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) Technical Committee for \u201cElectronic cigarettes and e-liquids\u201d, CEN\/TC 437. Liam was put forward as a UK national expert for e-cigarette devices to work in CEN\/TC 437\/WG 2, the CEN working group for e-cigarette devices. In May 2018 Liam was elected as convenor of CEN\/TC 437\/WG 3, a post that he held until March 2020. This is a CEN working group engaged in the production of standards for e-liquids and has 3 draft standards close to completion. This work involved leading a group of international experts with the very highest levels of knowledge and engagement in e-liquid product development, particularly in terms of the potential for toxicity and harm if ingredients are chosen or monitored poorly. His long experience in and responsibility for e-liquid production meant that I was able to contribute to drafts at the same time as providing leadership. His various roles in Totally Wicked require a detailed knowledge of industry trends, health related research associated with the use of the products, their efficacy, the way in which they are used by our customers and the regulatory environment governing their manufacture, distribution and marketing in the UK. In July 2014 Liam was part of the steering committee for BSI PAS 54115, the first UK standard to be developed for the sector. (A French standard, AFNOR XE D90-300-1, 2 and 3, was being developed at the same time; together they were the world\u2019s first.) Both MHRA and the then Department of Health (DH), now Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) took an interest in, and commented on the public review draft of BSI PAS 54115, which was published in July 2015. In October 2015 he joined the BSI mirror committee to the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) Technical Committee for \u201cElectronic cigarettes and e-liquids\u201d, CEN\/TC 437. Liam was put forward as a UK national expert for e-cigarette devices to work in CEN\/TC 437\/WG 2, the CEN working group for e-cigarette devices. In May 2018 Liam was elected as convenor of CEN\/TC 437\/WG 3, a post that he held until March 2020. This is a CEN working group engaged in the production of standards for e-liquids and has 3 draft standards close to completion. This work involved leading a group of international experts with the very highest levels of knowledge and engagement in e-liquid product development, particularly in terms of the potential for toxicity and harm if ingredients are chosen or monitored poorly. His long experience in and responsibility for e-liquid production meant that I was able to contribute to drafts at the same time as providing leadership.
