This is despite studies<a id=\"_ednref2\" href=\"#_edn2\">[ii]<\/a> showing that fruit and sweet flavoured e-liquids can help adults quit smoking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, news that these vape flavours could be banned is very worrying indeed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the Government Consultation is <em>your<\/em> chance to have your say on what banning vape flavours could mean for your quit smoking journey. You\u2019ll also have the opportunity to give your views on other potential restrictions to do with vaping and smoking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"button-clear\"><a href=\"https:\/\/consultations.dhsc.gov.uk\/en\/65201ed1f3410a69990d3081\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Complete the Government Consultation Response Form<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the Purpose of the Government Consultation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many elements to this consultation. Considerations include a gradual phase out of smoking, a ban on certain vape flavours, and restrictions on the sale of disposable vapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This consultation will discuss youth vaping specifically and will include proposals such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover is-light\" style=\"min-height:280px;aspect-ratio:unset;\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-background-dim-100 has-background-dim\" style=\"background-color:#f2f2f2\"><\/span><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-cover-is-layout-constrained\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Restricting vape flavours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regulating point of sale displays<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regulating packaging design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restriction of the supply and sale of disposable vapes specifically<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussions around extending regulations and restrictions for nicotine free vapes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Controlling vape prices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s so important that not only members of the Government discuss these matters, but that the public, and anyone with first-hand knowledge of vaping and the industry can influence these impactful decisions too. The decisions made at the end of this consultation could impact ex-smokers who have, or will in future be using vapes to keep of the cigarettes, and also health care providers who assist their service users in this way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Three Main Topics of the Government\u2019s Consultation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately, the Government&#8217;s public consultation will decide what policies and legislation will be introduced regarding smoking and the prevention of youth vaping. Within the consultation, the Government highlights three main areas it wishes to be discussed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Creating a smokefree generation \u2013 increasing the legal age of smoking each year to totally phase out smoking. There will be in-depth discussions about the feasibility and implementation of this policy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Youth vaping: what steps will have the most impact to eradicate underage vaping?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enforcement: what new powers will be introduced to allow local authorities in England and Wales to issue fixed penalty notices to ensure the implementation of sales legislation of tobacco products and vapes?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You Say about Flavoured Vapes and Your Quit Smoking Journey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p>We conducted our own research regarding vape flavours and how they \u2018ve helped you to stop smoking. When we asked how e-liquid flavours helped you quit smoking for good, a whopping 82.7% said that flavours were a key factor in aiding their quit smoking journey. A further 10.6% noted that it was a contributing factor in helping&nbsp; them quit. Only 6.7% said that vape flavour was not one of the main factors.*<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk\/vaped\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/flavours-pie-chart.jpg\" alt=\"Pie chart indicating the different percentages of people responding to our socials poll on how vape flavours impacted their quit smoking journey.\" class=\"wp-image-22619\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk\/vaped\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/flavours-pie-chart.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk\/vaped\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/flavours-pie-chart-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk\/vaped\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/flavours-pie-chart-75x75.jpg 75w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>These results show quite clearly that the majority of respondents found that vape flavours were a major contributor to them stopping smoking and staying away from cigarettes for good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Can Get Involved With the Public Consultation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a wide range of people who are invited to give their opinions on the three main topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the statement published on the Government website, the groups and individuals they wish to hear from include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover is-light\" style=\"min-height:280px;aspect-ratio:unset;\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-background-dim-100 has-background-dim\" style=\"background-color:#f2f2f2\"><\/span><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-cover-is-layout-constrained\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the public &#8211; including young people, parents, carers and teachers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the retail sector and the independent vaping industry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>local authorities across the UK<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>clinicians and medical professionals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>public health stakeholders and academic experts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>employers and trade unions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I Have my Say in the Government Consultation on Smoking and Vaping Restrictions?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, you can, and if you have a view on the topics being discussed and the possibility of restrictions, you absolutely should.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consultation poses a series of questions for you to answer. These questions are presented with multiple choice answers and an opportunity to give reasons for your answers. The IBVTA has issued a statement regarding the consultation<a id=\"_ednref3\" href=\"#_edn3\">[iii]<\/a>, and \u201chas welcomed the opportunity to help shape the future of the industry\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IBVTA also provided several media outlets with their views. Speaking to ITV\u2019s This Morning<a href=\"#_edn4\" id=\"_ednref4\">[iv]<\/a>, the IBVTA reiterated how vaping is an extremely effective tool for adult smokers who want to quit.
