The UK wide ban on single use vape is fast approaching and now is a good time to consider your next options. If you used disposables to transition away from the more harmful cigarettes, you may feel a little lost and concerned, but fear not, I’m here to help guide you onto better reusable devices.
Questions About After the Disposable Ban
You’re probably wondering what happens after the ban, or what to do now that it’s practically here. While I don’t have all the answers, I can address some common questions:
When Does the Disposable Vape Ban Start in the UK?
The ban on the sale of disposable vapes in the UK will come into effect on June 1st, 2025[i]. This date applies across the entire United Kingdom.
Can I Still Recycle Disposable Vapes After the Ban?
Yes, disposable vapes will still need to be recycled after the ban. You can continue to recycle them at any of our Totally Wicked stores across the UK. This service will remain available to ensure proper disposal and recycling of these devices.

Is it Illegal to Use Disposable Vapes After the Ban in the UK?
No, it will not be illegal to use disposable vapes after the ban. You don’t need to worry about stocking up beforehand while taking advantage of any low offers you might see. Be mindful that since retailers will be prohibited from selling them[ii], it’s still worth considering your next vaping options as your current supply runs out.
What Are Good Alternatives to Disposable Vapes?
Good alternatives to disposable vapes include starter kits. At Totally Wicked, we have a wide range of starter vape kits available that offer similar convenience to disposables but with the added benefits of refillable tanks and more e-liquid options. Many of these kits can provide even better flavour compared to disposable vapes.
Disposable Alternatives
I understand that the simplicity of single-use vapes has been a big draw. The ease of unpacking and vaping straight away is a key reason for their popularity. The problem is, this convenience has also led to issues like incorrect disposal, with empty devices and batteries often littering our streets. The good news is that there are solutions, so don’t worry. Major brands have introduced reusable and rechargeable alternatives. Elf Bar, Lost Mary, and SKE Crystal now offer pod systems where you can reuse the battery. This means you’ll only need to purchase replacement pods when your e-liquid is running low.
Elf Bar 600 Alternatives
Elf Bar are pioneers when it comes to disposable vapes, being the trend setters in 2021, they rapidly dominated this market. Some of the popular flavours like Blue Razz Lemonade and Grape, have become staples in vape flavour enthusiast rotations. With the end in sight for the single use version, we now stock the alternative that provides the same flavours in a very similar rechargeable device. Simply unpack from the box and insert the pod and you’re good to go. When the pods finished, no need to find a recycle bin, simply dispose of the pod and insert a new one... of any flavour.
Lost Mary BM600 Alternative
Following the popularity of the Elfbar 600, Lost Mary launched the BM600 roughly a year later, in a box styled shape. The appeal of this device came from its great flavours and convenience. Since then, Lost Mary has expanded its product line to include devices like the Lost Mary Tappo and the higher-capacity BM6000. The Lost Mary BM6000, the most recent addition to their “Big Puff Vape” range, rapidly became a top-selling disposable. However, the upcoming ban required a shift, leading Lost Mary to introduce a rechargeable and reusable alternative.
SKE Crystal Bar Alternative
Another popular disposable vape, the SKE Crystal Bar, is also getting a refresh. The new device, similar to the original, features the familiar SKE Crystal flavours in replaceable 2ml pre-filled pods. Previously, SKE Crystal introduced the rechargeable SKE Crystal 4 in 1, which offered four different flavours through replaceable pods. The newer SKE 600 Pro launched recently, offering a range of device colours and pre-filled pods that deliver the crystal ice flavour many vapers enjoy.
IVG 2400 Alternative
Then there’s the IVG 2400, a proper big hitter in the 4 in 1 big puff vape trend. It gave you decent flavours in a disposable that lasted a long time, up to 2400 puffs. Being able to switch flavours just by twisting it was a pretty clever move. But, like a lot of the non-rechargeable ones, the IVG 2400 was heading for the ban. So, IVG brought out a version you can charge and reuse. Same number of puffs and the same great flavours, just in a pod kit you can plug in and charge.
Starter Vape Kits
If you’re looking for alternatives to single-use vapes that can offer more flexibility, you might want to consider other types of vape kits. These kits can provide a wider range of options regarding flavours, nicotine strengths, and e-liquids, while still being relatively straightforward to use.
Aeromax
The Aeromax gives you a bit more control if you fancy it, with a button to press if you want, and you can even change the power. But if you just want to puff, it’s got you covered. It’s got smart tech that sorts out the power for you, depending on the coil resistance you’re using, with options ranging from 0.4ohm, 0.6ohm and 0.8ohm.
Lumina
Similar to the Aeromax, you can mess with the settings if you want to. The pod it comes with is filled from the top too, which makes it easier to top up when you’re out and about. You can just puff to vape, or press the button on the side. Both the Lumina and Aeromax have an on/off switch if you click the button five times quick.
Vape Juice Like the Disposables
If you’re all about the flavours you get in disposables, then VLTZ is the vape juice you need. You have a choice of two types - VLTZ Bar Salts and VLTZ Ultra. The Bar Salts give you proper flavour that tastes just like the disposables. VLTZ Ultra takes the flavour up a notch, even better than the single-use vapes, and you can get it in our strongest nicotine strength, 2.0%.
