What does High VG mean?
E-liquid is made up of four ingredients. Two of those are diluents that not only dilute the other ingredients and make the e-liquid more viscous, but they also have individual jobs that affect your vaping experience. These two diluents are Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerine (VG).
These two diluents can be included in e-liquid in different ratios, depending on what this ratio is, determines how the e-liquid performs and even tastes.
You will see this ratio displayed like this: 50/50 PG/VG.
In the example above, there is an equal amount of PG and VG in the e-liquid. But if the numbers are different, it denotes that there is more of one or the other.
Like this: 20/80 PG/VG.
In that example there is more VG than PG. When this is the case and the level of VG is much higher than the level of PG, this would be known as a high VG e-liquid. VG is a thick, viscous fluid that is odourless, but has a slight sweet taste. It is used in e-liquid to add thickness to the fluid and to create the clouds of vapour that you exhale. At Totally Wicked we only use the highest quality of ingredients available.
What Devices Can I Use With High VG Vape Juice?
While high VG e-liquids can technically be used in any vape kit, it is more suited to certain vape set ups. This is because the e-liquid is notably thicker than a juice that has more PG in it.
If you use a high VG e-liquid in a vape starter kit, or a kit that has higher resistance vape coils, it can struggle to wick into these coils. This is because of the way they are designed, with much smaller e-liquid inlet holes. As the thick e-liquid struggles to wick into the vape coil, it will be dry as you vape it, causing your vape coil to burn out prematurely.
The best devices to use high VG e-liquid with are any that have sub-ohm coils, these are designed with much wider inlet holes and can wick the high VG juice properly. They will also help create even bigger clouds of e-liquid and utilise the high VG content.
Some great kits to try with high VG e-liquid are the Polaris, AIO Slider Hellfire or the arc EVO.
The Benefits of High VG Vape Juice
A high VG e-liquid means that there is a much larger ratio of VG than PG in the e-liquid. This means that the vaping experience will be different.
VG is responsible for the thickness of the vape juice, the clouds of vapour that are produced and a slight sweetness.
Therefore, a high VG e-liquid will be much thicker, produce much bigger clouds of vapour and be sweeter. Also, as PG provides the throat hit as you inhale, a high VG e-liquid will be smoother as you vape. If you vape sub-ohm, this means the DL vaping can much less harsh with a high VG fluid.
