If you’ve searched anything about VPD recently, you’ve probably already seen the headlines telling you to stockpile now or pay double later. We’re not going to do that. Panic buying isn’t good advice, it’s a sales tactic presented as urgency, and it’s not one we’re interested in using on you.
So here’s what we’d suggest doing instead. Which is mostly not very much at all.
Key Takeaways
- You don’t need to stock up. We’ve explained why in our Price Lock commitment below
- A little awareness of your own usage is really useful, buying in bulk isn’t
- Smaller formats tend to be more cost effective long term.
- Watch out for “buy now or pay double” messaging elsewhere, it’s marketing.
- Knowing how to spot a legitimate product matters more than ever as the market shifts
What’s actually changing
From 1st October 2026, the government’s introducing Vaping Products Duty, a new tax on vape liquid. We’ve covered the full detail in our piece on what VPD actually is, so we won’t repeat it all here. The short version is that it adds a flat rate charge per ml of liquid, whatever the format, bottle, pod or kit (as long as it contains liquid).
Our Price Lock commitment
We’re committed to keeping our prices as low as possible, for as long as possible. While the new vape tax comes into effect in October, that doesn’t mean our prices will suddenly change. We’ve stocked up on e-liquid, prefilled pods and kits made before the tax applies, helping us to keep today’s prices in place for the months ahead.
So there’s no need to stock up or change the way you shop, you can continue buying what you need, when you need it, at the prices you’re used to.
That’s not us being vague for effect. It’s the actual plan, it’s the reason nothing further down this list involves buying more than usual.

Get to know your own usage
Take stock of how many bottles or pods you actually get through in a normal month. Most people have never really worked it out, they just reorder when they’re running low.
Knowing your own numbers means that whenever prices do eventually shift, for us or anyone else, you’ll already know roughly what that means for your monthly spend, rather than being caught off guard by it. It’s budgeting, not stockpiling, and it takes about thirty seconds of actually thinking about it.
Smaller formats, long term
Worth knowing for the future, even if it’s not something to act on today. Because VPD is charged per ml rather than per product, formats that use less liquid will usually come out more cost effective once duty applies. Standard 10ml bottles and smaller capacity pods (2ml) generally fall into that category.
This isn’t a nudge to switch anything right now, your prices with us aren’t moving, so there’s no rush either way. It’s simply useful context for when you’re next naturally due a change in kit or routine.

Be wary of scare marketing
We’d be doing you a disservice not to mention this directly. A lot of the advice circulating right now is built around urgency, buy this much, order in the next few weeks, beat the tax before it’s too late. Some of it comes from retailers who genuinely haven’t planned ahead and are using the tax as a reason to push bigger orders.
We’re not going to do that. Our Price Lock commitment exists specifically so you don’t need to make a rushed decision. If you see messaging elsewhere pushing you toward a big one-off purchase, it’s worth asking who that actually benefits.
Stay in the loop
If there’s one action worth taking, it’s this. Keep an eye on updates from us rather than acting on assumptions from elsewhere. We’ll always tell you directly if anything about our pricing or stock changes, and you’ll hear it here first, not from a news article or a forum post on someone else’s site.
Everything else can wait. Buy what you need, when you need it, same as always.
