Can you believe another year is almost over? If you're anything like me, you'll be looking forward to the fresh start a new year can bring. I'll even be partaking in one of the most popular ways to usher in positive habits - by making a New Year's resolution (find out later exactly what mine is!)
With so many people choosing this time of year to make changes, you'll be in good company if you fancy making a resolution. This is especially true if you're determined to go smoke-free, as so many smokers choose this time of year to pursue a healthier lifestyle[i]. The Government is also determined to help adult smokers to go smoke-free with their Swap to Stop Scheme.
Should you be looking to quit smoking for good this New Year, I've got some great tips and advice to help this resolution stick.
I'll also be delving into what other resolutions people will be making. You can even have a sneaky peek at what some of the staff here at Totally Wicked will be resolving to do...
What are the Most Popular New Year's Resolutions?
According to Forbes[i], almost a third of the British population will be making a New Year's resolution this year. This is a significant increase on last year, where approximately only 1 in 5 Brits resolved to make changes in the New Year.
So, what will people be resolving to do this coming new year?
Research reveals that health will be a priority for many. This includes changes to diet and exercise. Many are also keen to lose weight this year. Significantly, 11% are determine to quit smoking. The majority of resolutions appear to focus on physical and mental health.
Perhaps triggered by the cost-of-living crisis, it seems others are keen to improve their finances and career-goals. Forbes' research also reveals that people are keen to reduce their alcohol consumption in January. Presumably this is because many people tend to over-do the festivities around this time of year and are looking to reign it in a little - or a lot!

What New Year Resolutions are we Making at Totally Wicked?
Wondering what resolutions, we'll be making at Totally Wicked? Well wonder no more. I managed to convince some members of staff - and our CEO – to let us in on what they'll be doing differently this New Year. Let's start with my resolution. Now I know it's not an exciting one, but it is healthy! I've decided to drink more water. Now, you may be thinking that I should have been making sure I was drinking enough water already. But, to be honest, I had never really given it much thought before. That was until I happened to read that being sufficiently hydrated is essential in preventing a multitude of health problems.

Health, Wealth and Happiness
Anyway, enough about me, let's see what other resolutions the Totally Wicked teams have got in mind:
Our Customer Services Manager, Scarlett, is on a health kick this coming year:
"I'm going to eat healthier foods, and go alcohol-free for the first six months of the year."
As if this wasn't enough, Scarlett's also intending to learn Spanish - excelente!
Another one who wants to get healthy is Dan, Totally Wicked's Senior E-Commerce Manager. He admits to relying on fast food at lunch time, so intends to bring in his own lunches in future. We'll believe that when we see it, Dan - only joking!
Customer Service Advisors, Andrea and Steph also chipped in with their resolutions: Andrea is determined to be more organised, and Steph is planning on saving money by curtailing her online shopping.
Our CEO, Marcus Saxton Has His Say on New Year’s Resolutions
“While I'm not a huge New Year’s Resolution adopter, I do recognise the need and empathise with those that do. I have personally benefitted through adding structure, routine and discipline . Much research suggests that adopting a behaviour consistently and repeatedly for 30 days, can then embed that behaviour into your routine; the abnormal and uncomfortable becomes the normal and a core part of your daily life. Whether this be about exercise, alcohol, diet or closer to home, quitting smoking, there is no better time to start than the 'New Year'.
So set your intentions, build your routine and form that behaviour. There is no doubt you will have tough moments, have a thought of 'giving up', but persevere and keep up that determined consistency!”
Whether you intend follow the mantra of “New Year, New Me”, or are just hoping for good things this year, Totally Wicked wishes every single one of you a very Happy New Year!
Why not let us know in the comments what New Year’s resolutions you have planned?
