Totally Wicked has donated £40,000 to support the development of Accrington Stanley Community Trust.
The donation will help to fund a Sports Hub project which aims to ‘increase participation in sport, improve health and exercise levels and provide more opportunities for disabled people to access vital sport and education activities.’
The project will involve a construction process at Higham Playing Fields in Accrington which will start next year. It will develop the skills of unemployed people, create job opportunities and inspire voluntary work, all great initiatives for the local community.
Martin Fearon, CEO of Accrington Stanley Community Trust, said:
“We are really thankful for the donation made by Totally Wicked which is a truly amazing gesture by them. The funds will go towards the sports hub development at Higham Playing Fields to benefit the local community. The costs to finish the state-of-the-art community facility are around £2.5 million and we are edging closer and closer to that figure.”
In February, Accrington became the new home of UK Vapour Brands, Totally Wicked’s wholesale arm of the the business, as construction of the brand new Headquarters was completed. Giving back to the community is an important aspect of Totally Wicked’s existence. Recent events with other partners have helped to bring the Blackburn community together and we hope this donation will help to make a strong impact in Accrington.
Fraser Cropper, Managing Director of Totally Wicked, said:
“Having recently completed our redevelopment of the Old Accrington Fire Station and moved our UK Vapour Brands business to the town, the Sports Hub development provided the business a great opportunity to provide some direct support to the town’s development. I believe sport provides all ages with an opportunity for improved health and well-being and importantly to build both an individual’s and community’s confidence to live life to the fullest. We wish Martin and the team the earliest fulfilment of this much needed facility”
We are excited to see the development of Accrington Stanley Community Trust’s Sports Hub and we’re proud to have played a part in this initiative.
