So you’ve heard about Pixl vapes and you’re wondering what all the fuss is about. Maybe you’ve spotted them in a shop or seen them mentioned online, and you’re curious as to what they might be. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s our ultimate guide to Pixl Vapes.
This guide covers everything you need to know about Pixl vapes – who they are, what they make, how the devices work and whether they’re worth your money. We’ll also go into some detail on the two Pixl kits we stock here at Totally Wicked, the Pixl 8000 and the Pixl Duo 12, because honestly, they’re two of the better pod kits on the market right now.
What is Pixl Vapes?
Pixl is a UK-focused vape brand that’s built its reputation around making high-puff-count devices that are actually easy to use. They started out making disposables, the old Pixl 6000 was fairly popular, but since the UK disposable vape ban came into effect in June 2025, they’ve moved fully into rechargeable pod kits.
And the thing is, they’ve done it well. Rather than just slapping a USB-C port on a disposable and calling it “reusable”, Pixl have actually put some thought into the design. The pod system is simple to use, the flavour range is solid, and the devices feel like an actual step forward rather than a rushed workaround.
The core idea behind every Pixl device is that you keep the battery unit and just swap the pod when it runs out, similar to most reusable kits. No refilling with e-liquid bottles, no changing coils, no messing about. You just pop in a new pod and carry on. It’s a closed pod system, which means it’s designed to be as fuss-free as possible.
Why are people switching to Pixl?
The ban on disposable vapes has pushed a lot of people to look for alternatives, and for many vapers who were using disposables, the jump to a full refillable kit feels like a big step. You’ve suddenly got to think about e-liquid, coil resistance, wattage settings… It’s a lot if you just want something simple.
Pixl sits nicely in the middle ground. You get a rechargeable device with a decent puff count, a familiar mouth-to-lung draw, and prefilled pods. So you’re not worrying about any of that technical stuff. If you were using a Lost Mary or an Elf Bar before the ban, something like the Pixl 8000 is probably the closest like-for-like replacement in terms of simplicity, just with a much higher puff count and a fraction of the waste.
The Pixl 8000 Refillable Kit
The Pixl 8000 is one kit that's easy to start with, and it’s easy to see why. It delivers up to 8,000 puffs per kit, which works out to roughly 13 standard single-bar disposables’ worth of vaping in one device. That’s pretty good value for money.

How it works
Each kit comes with two parts – a 2ml prefilled pod and a 10ml refill container. The pod sits in the device ready to go, and as you vape through it, the 10ml container top it back up automatically. When both are spent, you just swap them out for a new kit. The battery itself stays with you and gets charged up via USB-C.
It sounds more complicated than it is. In practice, you just vape, and when it stops producing flavour or the screen shows the tank is empty, you replace the pod and the refill container. Takes about ten seconds.
The battery and charging
The PIXL 8000 runs on an 850mAh battery, which sounds modest, but it lasts most vapers a full day on a single charge. The USB-C port means charging is fast and you’re probably not without it for long even if you do run it down. There’s a clear display screen on the device too, so you can actually see the battery level rather than guessing like you had to with most disposables.

Boost mode
One thing worth knowing about is the boost mode. Double-click the button at the bottom of the device, and it ramps up the vapour and intensifies the flavour. It’s handy for those moments when you want a bit more from your vape, maybe first thing in the morning or after a meal. You just double-click again to switch it back off.
Mouth-to-lung vaping
The 8000 is designed for MTL (mouth-to-lung) vaping, which means you draw the vapour into your mouth first before inhaling, just like you would with a cigarette. If you’ve come from smoking or disposable vapes, this will feel completely natural. It also means the vapour output is discreet, no big clouds – which can be a little off-putting in a social setting.
Nicotine strength
All Pixl kits use 20mg nicotine salt e-liquid. Nic salts are smoother on the throat than freebase nicotine, and they hit faster, which makes them ideal for people who are using vaping to manage cigarette cravings. 20mg is a solid mid-level strength, enough to satisfy without being overwhelming.
Flavours on the Pixl 8000
There’s a decent range of flavours available for the 8000, over ten options at Totally Wicked, covering fruits, icy blends and more unusual picks. A few worth calling out:

- Hawaiian Oasis – tropical and fruity, one of the most popular in the range
- Blueberry Sour Razz – sharp, tangy and really vivid
- Cherry Ice – classic combo of sweet cherry with a cooling menthol finish
- Strawberry Burst – clean and fruity, good for an all-day vape
- Blue Razz Lemonade – a crowd pleaser, slightly sharp with a fizzy edge
- Mango Ice – smooth tropical with a cool finish
The flavours are all made with 20mg nic salts so nicotine delivery is consistent across the range. If you’re not sure where to start, Hawaiian Oasis and Strawberry Burst are both reliable choices that tend to suit most tastes.
The Pixl Duo 12 Kit
The Pixl Duo 12 is a bit different. It’s the device for people who can never decide on just one flavour.
The idea is simple: instead of one pod, the Duo holds two. And instead of switching devices or carrying multiple kits around, you just twist the mouthpiece to switch between them. That rotating mouthpiece is the big feature here, and it works surprisingly well in practice.

How the Duo 12 works
Inside the device there are two 1ml prefilled pods and two 5ml refill containers, one for each flavour. Total e-liquid capacity is 12ml. Puff count is up to 6,000 across both flavours combined. You twist the mouthpiece left or right to switch flavours, and it’s ready to go immediately, no waiting, no priming.
The hyper dual mesh coil system means both flavours are heated evenly and consistently. You won’t get one flavour bleeding into the other either; the system keeps them completely separate.
Boost mode on the Duo
Same as the 8000, the Duo has a boost mode. Hit the button on the side and the intensity goes up noticeably. The mesh coil really does make a difference here, flavour is richer and fuller than you’d expect from a device this size.

Themed editions
The Duo 12 comes in themed “editions” with two pre-paired flavours in each kit. There are 14 editions in total, so 28 flavours across the range. Here’s a rundown of what we like:

- Blue Edition – Blueberry Razz and Blue Magic (blueberry, aniseed, cool ice)
- Cherry Edition – Cherry Ice and Cherry Pop
- Fantasy Edition – Fruit Fantasy and Blueberry Burst
- Lemonade Edition – Blue Lemonade and Pink Lemonade
- Lime Edition – Lemon & Lime and Cola Lime
- Mint Edition – Watermelon Mint and Strawberry Mint
- Pink Edition – Pixl Dust and Pink Razz
- Purple Edition – Grape Berry Burst and Mr Purp
- Tropical Edition – Triple Melon and Triple Mango
- Watermelon Edition – Watermelon Grape and Watermelon Peach Mango
The editions are well thought out. Flavours within each one are similar enough to complement each other but distinct enough to feel like you’re actually switching. The Tropical Edition is a good shout if you like sweet exotic fruits. The Lemonade Edition is brilliant in summer. If you’re a fan of menthol, the Mint Edition covers you nicely.
Pixl 8000 vs Pixl Duo 12 – which should you go for?
This comes up a lot and honestly the answer depends on what you want from your vape.
Go for the Pixl 8000 if:
- You know your favourite flavour and tend to stick to it
- You want a higher puff count (8000 vs 6000)
- You prefer simplicity and just want something that works
- You’re brand new to pod kits
Go for the Pixl Duo 12 if:
- You like variety and get bored of one flavour
- You want to have a “main” flavour and a backup without carrying two devices
- You like the idea of switching moods in one session, fruity in the afternoon, mint in the evening
- The rotating mouthpiece concept appeals to you
Both devices share the same MTL vaping style, the same 20mg nic salt strength, USB-C charging and boost mode. The Duo is slightly more complex but not in a way that makes it harder to use, more in a way that adds options.
Setting up your Pixl device
Neither device is tricky to set up but it’s worth going through the steps because if you skip them, you might experience a burnt taste on the first few puffs.
For the Pixl 8000:
- Remove the silicone seal from the base of the pod
- Connect the pod and refill container together
- Slot the assembled unit into the battery
- Click the button five times to unlock the device
- Inhale to vape

For the Pixl Duo 12:
- Remove the silicone seals from the base of both pods
- Insert both pods firmly into the top of the device
- Press the side button for a flavour boost when ready
- Rotate the mouthpiece to switch between the two flavours

The “remove the silicone seal” step is the one people most often forget. It’s easy to miss if you don’t read the instructions but it matters. Leaving it in place will cause a dry hit and won’t do the pod any favours.
Are Pixl vapes eco-friendly?
Better than disposables, certainly. With both the 8000 and the Duo 12 you’re keeping and reusing the main battery unit, which means less plastic and harmful chemicals going into landfill per vape session compared to a single-use disposable.
The pods and refill containers do still need replacing, but the volume of waste is significantly lower overall.
It’s not a perfect system, no pod kit is, but if you moved over from buying a new disposable every couple of days, you’ll notice the difference. One Pixl 8000 replaces around 13 single-bar disposables worth of vaping.
Common questions about Pixl vapes
Can I use any flavour pod in the Pixl 8000 battery? Yes. The battery is compatible with any Pixl 8000 pod, so you’re not locked into the flavour you started with. You can only have one flavour active at a time, though, unlike the Duo.
How long does the battery last? Both devices have an 850mAh battery and most vapers get a full day out of a single charge. Heavy vapers might need to top up towards the evening.
What nicotine strength is available? Both the 8000 and the Duo 12 come in 20mg nicotine salt only. There’s no lower strength option currently.
Are Pixl pods TPD compliant? Yes. All Pixl devices sold in the UK meet TPD (Tobacco Products Directive) requirements. The 2ml pod design is part of this compliance.
How do I know when the pod is empty? The display screen on the 8000 shows battery and e-liquid levels. On the Duo, flavour production will noticeably drop off when a side runs low. You can also check visually through the pod window.
