Vape hacks, whether you are a member of the old guard, who remembers vaping life as a dawn of discovery with new technologies being released every week, or a relative newbie who is watching the sun rise on their vaping journey, everyone needs a good vape hack.
As with every facet of life, there can be niggles. Let me, a vaper of over 12 years impart onto you my top vape hacks. This is over a decade in the making, so strap in (or don’t that’s good too).
Rubber bands
Bits get stuck, it happens. There are parts tightening and loosening together every day, multiple times a day. There are different types of threads and when you involve a liquid as well, things get jammed together.
If you tank is stuck to your mod, or your tank is stuck together the best thing to do is use a pair of pliers, some padding and a very gentle touch. But if you are out and about this isn’t feasible. So here is my hack, carry some thick rubber bands.
If any parts of your vape are stuck, wrap a rubber band or two around the jammed piece. It usually provides enough grip and leverage to get you moving again.
Coffee grounds
Ok, This might sound weird, but bear with me, this is a classic sommelier tip.
Vapers tongue is a thing. You have a favourite vape juice, you have been vaping said juice daily with no problem. Then one day, you just can’t taste it anymore. No one knows why this happens, it just can. The theory is your palate is used to the flavour.
There are a few ways to combat it, vape a different juice for a while, switch to a menthol to ‘cleanse’ the palate. But a tip from wine tasters is coffee grounds or beans. As it is such a strong smell, it shifts the receptors in your nose and brain to something foreign and different, a kind of reset.
You will be tasting your juice again in now time.
Tissues
You are moving around all day with a container that a viscous liquid in it. There will be drips, leaks and spills on occasion, especially when you are refilling your tank.
Keeping a small pack of tissue with you means they are always on hand if there is ever an e-liquid emergency.
The vape bag
This can be anything. A reusable carrier bag, a wash bag, a zip loc bag, anything that can hold things and be sealed.
Why do we need a vape bag? Because it means you can carry around your essentials and keep them in one place. At a minimum you should have your e-cig, e-liquid and some spare coils, ideally we would chuck in there an extra fully charged battery and spare tank.
If you are a vaper, the chances are you were a smoker. Can you imagine going somewhere without your cigs and lighter? Or how stressed you were if you didn’t have your lighter?
You don’t want to be in a situation where your coil goes, or your battery runs out, or you drop your tank and break it and you have no back up.
Get spares for your spares and keep them with you.
